Thompson Ledges Township Park Commission Creates Fund Through Foundation to Honor Dan Best

Thompson Ledges will celebrate the grand opening of their Nature Center and Outdoor Exhibitry in September. Dan Best, former Foundation Trustee and coordinator of our Explorer Series Guided Excursions, is being honored for his work at Thompson Ledges with the “Dan Best Nature Awareness Fund”. 

Dan Best is a retired Geauga Park District Naturalist well-known throughout Geauga County. He has volunteered his skills to write an interpretive master plan for Thompson Ledges that provided guidance on indoor and outdoor exhibit development.

To honor Dan’s efforts and thank him for his service, the Thompson Ledges Township Park Commission has created a fund through the Foundation for Geauga Parks, to help ensure long-term financial stability for maintenance and upkeep of the park and nature center displays.

The Grand Opening of the Frances Spatz Leighton Nature and Learning Center at Thompson Ledges will be held Saturday, September 27 from 1-5pm.
