About the event

Take a short walk with retired Naturalist Dan Best and learn more about less familiar native trees and shrubs found growing in the woods and Lake Kelso bog.  Learn about the lore, features, uses and edibility of wood plants found at Burton Wetlands including shingle oak, white oak, wild black cherry, chokecherry, hazelnut, white ash, black ash, elderberry, winterberry, high bush blueberry, tamarac, and from a safe distance … genuine poison sumac! 


DETAILS:

  • Meet in parking lot on Old Rider Road, just north of Pond Road.

  • Dress for the weather

  • Ticks are active this time of year - to help protect yourself you may want to wear light colored clothing, long pants, and closed-toe shoes.

  • Well socialized pets on a leash welcome!
