About the event
Thompson Ledges Park Trustee Mark Kuehn, West Creek Conservancy's Brett Rodstrum, and retired Naturalist Dan Best team up to share how this ecologically unique place has been preserved, made accessible with new trails, and interpreted with outstanding exhibits. They’ll share plans for future developments to expand trails and programs. Tour the new Francis Spatz Leighton Nature Center then trek off-trail into property (not yet open to the public) that protects unique and endangered plants and animals. Here botanists recently discovered new species of mosses and plants that were thought to be extinct! With three forest types overlapping within the park, cool sandstone seeps, streams and pristine lowlands, this park is an ecological gem.
