Hike along the headwaters of the Grand River through tall pines and woods. Get in a festive mood for the holidays with plants, animals, and trees that have particular holiday lore. Wear your favorite holiday gear for this fun trek with naturalist Vicki Solomon!

About the event

Trek 1.7 miles at the headwaters of the Grand River with naturalist Vicki Solomon, through tall pines and woods. Get in the mood for the holidays with plants, animals, and trees that have particular holiday lore. Extra reward if you wear either red and green, blue and gold, an elf hat, reindeer antlers, Santa suit, jingle bells, mistletoe, Grinch swag, or bring a sack full of toys. Chickagami Park was a Boy Scout camp from 1941 until 2007, and is now managed by the Geauga Park District.


Know Before You Go 

Distance of Walk | Hike: 1.7 miles

Difficulty Level:  Moderate

Trail Conditions: Natural terrain, may have wet, snowy or icy conditions

Footwear & Clothing: Dress for the weather and wear sturdy footwear.

Dogs & Pets: Dogs on a leash welcome.

What to Bring: Water is recommended for all excursions. Depending on the program, you may also wish to bring binoculars, walking poles, or a small day pack.

Additional Notes: Excursions take place in natural outdoor settings. Conditions may change due to weather, trail conditions, wildlife activity, or other site-specific factors. Foundation staff or excursion leaders may adjust the route or program as needed for participant safety and resource protection.
